Footy fever takes over Kardinia

Geelong is going all out for their home clash against reigning premiers Brisbane, with Cats fans urged to get to their seats early to take it all in.

The Club is Kitting out the Cattery, filling the stadium with free white t-shirts as they look to turn GMHBA into a cauldron.

They hope having 40,000 shirts in the crowd will create a sea of white, inspired by American university Penn State, who white-out the stadium at select college football games.

Those heading to the game have been encouraged to find their seats by 7pm to take part in the spectacle and enjoy special player milestone celebrations.

Patrick Dangerfield is hitting 350 games at the clash, he said he’s keen to see the crowd get involved.

“I think it’s fantastic. It’s a great initiative by the club. Obviously, we’ve seen it really successful overseas and it’s going to be a wonderful occasion,” the skipper said.

“Friday night footy on any calendar is great. We love being a part of it as a club. Night games, there’s something special about it. So then, to white out the ground the ground the way that it’s going to be [tonight], I think it’s going to be a great spectacle.”

The Club have adopted the slogan ‘Wear it, Wave it, Chant it’ for the event, encouraging fans to take part in the effect.
