Geelong digs deep for Paul’s devastated family

A fundraiser for the heartbroken family of a Geelong man murdered on the doorstep of his home has raised more than $34,000 in two days.

Paul Grapsas died on Thursday September 14 after being attacked while taking his dog for a late night walk.

His body was found by his wife Jessica, who had gone looking for him after she woke to the realisation that he had not come home.

Paul was the father of two young daughters and was looking forward to the birth of his third child.

A GoFundMe page set up by Jessica’s sister Emily has already attracted almost 400 donations and by Monday morning had collected $34,101.

Paul has been described as a loving husband who adored his deeply.

“No sum can ever replace Paul or take away the pain,” Emily wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“However financial support can alleviate the burdens for Jessica and their young children and baby on the way, to help them cope with coming to terms with the tragic heartbreaking loss.”

Money raised will provide everyday support for Paul and Jessica’s three children, as well as their future education.

Emily said the family appreciated the support from the Geelong community in the wake of their devastating loss.

“A very heartfelt thank you to the Geelong Community and beyond, for your kind and very much appreciated donations and words,” he said.

She said ever contribution was appreciated, regardless of size.

But she said people could help in other ways by circulating details the GoFundMe page on social media, or by leaving messages of support.

“Leave a message, your comforting words , cherished memories, or heart felt message can comfort Jessica and her young children during this time,” Emily wrote.
