It was a busy start to the week for the Geelong Highway Patrol, with two vehicles impounded.
A Tarneit man was intercepted in Highton after running a red light in an Audi SUV, just before 2am on Monday.
The 25-year-old returned a positive breath test, alleged to have blown a reading of 0.116 in a second test.
Later that day, a driver on his red P plates was caught travelling 122 km/h in a 70 km/h zone along Melbourne Road, North Geelong.
Police said the 20-year-old from Geelong was unable to provide a reason for the excessive speed, caught just before midnight in a Holden station wagon.
Both drivers will face the Geelong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
