Geelong’s University Hospital is set to receive more than 20 million dollars in the state budget.
The state announcing the $20.3 million dollars will be put towards expansion of the paediatric emergency department.
“This improves access to specialist emergency care for families in Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast,” a spokesperson said.
“Hospital can be a daunting place for kids, and this ED is specially designed to support children when they need it.”
Up the highway the state is also committing $95million into the Werribee Mercy Hospital to double the capacity of the emergency department.
Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne says the upgrades are essential for the state.
“Our health infrastructure investments are improving care for more Victorians right across the state.”
