Barwon Health workers are joining a statewide fight for better pay and conditions.
Buses will be going from Geelong to Victorian Trades Hall in Melbourne, before workers will march to the Premier’s office at Treasury Place.
Jake McGuinness from the Health Workers Union said workers just wanted a wages deal that delivered a liveable pay rise, as well as action to address workloads and chronic staff shortages.
“We’ve been negotiating now for 13 months with the government, and they’re yet to make an offer above inflation” he said.
“The most recent offer worked out to be about 3.5 per cent, when inflation was 3.8 per cent.”
He said bans were targeted and carefully designed to protect emergency and critical services, but they would cause widespread disruption.
