The Give Where You Live Foundation is in the thick of its Feed Geelong Appeal and is ramping up its fundraising efforts to close out the working week.

This Thursday and Friday the foundation is encouraging workplaces, schools and community groups to support the appeal by donating your lunch and coffee money to help fight hunger across the region.

Foundation CEO Bill Mithen said the organisation will double any donation made as part of the appeal over the next two days as part of the lunch money challenge.

Mr. Mithen said the cost of living crunch has seen local food relief agencies provide tens of thousands of meals each week.

“We discovered that the equivalent of 35-thousand meals a week are distributed by the system and over 23-thousand kilograms of food per week,” he said.

“(It’s being provided) to people who are entering who are entering that system because they don’t have enough money to purchase their own food.

“So the money that you would spend on coffee and lunch normally on Thursday and Friday, think about donating it to Feed Geelong.

“And over the course of those two days, every donation that’s made in the lunch money challenge will be doubled.”
