Lara mother Winnie De Silva has opened up about the Gold Coast helicopter crash.

Ms De Silva and Leon were in separate hospitals for several weeks.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigation described the collision as ‘not likely survivable’

Ms De Silva has told the Herald Sun she heard a bang and thought it was engine failure.

“It was just chaos, there were things everywhere,” she said.

“He (the pilot) pressed the buttons, he used both hands pressing the buttons.”
