Locals have taken advantage of international flights to Bali from Avalon Airport.

It has been just over two weeks since Jetstar launched the international service, and comes more than six years after AirAsiaX stopped flights from Avalon to Malaysia due to Covid.

Executive General Manager of Aviation at the airport, Matt Marais, said flights were mostly full.

“With only a handful of seats on each flight still, so fantastic uptake for the first few weeks,” he said.

“A really strong amount of bookings leading in over Easter break and holiday period.”

Mr Marais also said it was good news as they look to encourage Jetstar and other carriers to consider Avalon for services.

“It’s been a couple of years that we’ve been pushing international flights back to Avalon, and really exciting to see the partnership with Jetstar extend with the international flights.”

Jetstar flights have also been solidly booked domestically, especially the Adelaide route heading into AFL Gather Round in South Australia.

The budget airline said there was still time to get a seat to the South Australian capital to catch a football game.
