Professional triathletes will converge on Geelong in March, with the return of IRONMAN 70.3.
The local event will be the second of the 2026 IRONMAN Pro Series, and the first IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon.
It is set to be broadcast to a global audience, with spots including Geelong’s waterfront set to feature.
The race includes a 1.9km swim in Corio Bay, a 90km bike ride and 21.1km run.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj welcomed having the triathlon back next year.
“IRONMAN 70.3 has been an incredible event for our region, and it’s one of the many international events that we host,” Cr Kontelj said.
“To be the only Australian round of next year’s IRONMAN Pro-Series highlights that value that Geelong offers in this space, and I can’t wait to welcome some of the world’s best triathletes in March next year.”
