Bonza customers affected by the airline’s decision to cancel flights between Avalon and the Gold Coast have been offered a lifeline by rival Jetstar.
The fledgling low cost carrier had promised to be flying passengers to the popular Queensland holiday destination by the summer holidays, but is blaming issues securing an aircraft for the deferral.
Jetstar has announced it’s offering ‘special fares’ for impacted passengers seeking to fly from Avalon to the Gold Coast and Cairns during December.
“For passengers who were booked to travel on a Bonza flight between Gold Coast and Avalon until 31 December 2023, and have received notification their Bonza flight has been cancelled, Jetstar is offering special fares for $117 one way for travel on the route from today until 31 December 2023,” the airline announced on Monday night.
A one way trip to Cairns in the same period is being offered at $174, each offer excludes checked baggage customers and Jetstar says all fares are subject to availability of seats and may sell out.
The airline says it “will continue to monitor the situation and advise if there are additional alternative options for passengers impacted by other Bonza route suspensions.”
