The re-opening of the train line between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds is a step closer.
V/Line’s holding tests today and across the weekend, with trains to be travelling between stations for safety and boomgate testing.
Coaches are still replacing trains on the line between Geelong and Warrnambool.
“Warrnambool Line passengers are one step closer to enjoying journeys on modern VLocity trains, with network testing taking place between South Geelong and Warrnambool on Friday and across this weekend,” a V/Line spokesperson said.
“Communities along the line are reminded to remain vigilant around level crossings and always obey warnings, as trains can come from either direction at any time.”
Motorists around the region are being warned to be extra careful out on the road in coming days while the testing is carried out.
Freight and locomotive-hauled carriages will return to the lines from Monday, with passengers to return to the line from August 26.
