A six-year-old footy fanatic from Newcomb will be the envy of his school when he takes centre stage at the MCG at this year’s AFL Grand Final.
Hunter Armstrong has secured a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be one of 23 starry-eyed youngsters who will get to present premiership medals to players from the winning team following Saturday week’s big game.
And if the Newcomb Power FC and East Geelong FC player gets his way, he will be lining up to hand one of the prized medallions to a member of his beloved Magpies.
Like a true Pies fan, Hunter is quietly confident his team will come through – probably.
“Collingwood – if they make it,” he told Geelong Broadcasters.
“It depends. If it’s Collingwood (versus) Carlton then it’s Collingwood by 20 or ten points.
“(Or if it’s) Collingwood-Brisbane, Collingwood by four. Or one!”

Hunter is one of 23 lucky recruits for Team NAB AFL Auskick who will get to present premiership medals as part of the ultimate three-day footy experience.
They will also attend a dedicated Team NAB AFL Auskick jumper presentation, walk alongside the stars in the Grand Final Parade, and will watch on from prime seats at the MCG as the two teams battle in the 2023 Toyota Grand Final.
Hunter uploaded a video of his Auskick exploits as part of a competition run by National Australia Bank..
“I had to do stuff about footy,” he explained.
Proud mum Erin, also a Collingwood fan, was on hand to help.
“He kept nagging me with his iPad about having to upload a video,” said Erin.
“I wasn’t even really sure of what I was uploading it for or what it was.
“I just did the video and uploaded it, and I received the news that he had been selected!”
