Beyond the Valley will be the first music festival in Victoria to trial pill testing.
The event is being held in late December at Hesse, west of Inverleigh.
Premier Jacinta Allan is confident the move will be a success.
“The legislation provides for access to the pill testing service, to be provided in a confidential way, in a legal way,” she said.
“This is about saving lives and we know pill testing saves lives, because the evidence tells us that.”
Cameron Frances from The Loop Australia said it would help festival goers.
“The majority of people that we see in the pill testing service have never spoken to a health professional before,” he said.
“We’re there at the moment where they’ve got drugs in their pocket, and able to give them accurate advice so they can make better choices.”
