A number of locals have been recognised among more than 800 people named in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.
Nine people from across Geelong and the Surf Coast have been acknowledged for their work in our community.
Six have earned Medals of the Order (OAM), while three were named as Members (AM).

Dr Jack Ayerbe (OAM): For services to veterinary science.
Dr Stephen Bolsin (OAM): For service to medicine as an anaesthetist.
Brian Cook (AM): For significant service to Australian rules football, to business, and to the community.
Dr Charlie Corke (AM): For significant service to intensive care medicine as a clinician, administrator and researcher.
James Demetriou (AM): For significant service to sport, to education, and to business.
Dr David Iser (OAM): For service to medicine as a general practitioner.
William McFarlane (OAM): For service to the community of Geelong.
Barry Solomon (OAM): For service to the communities of Geelong.
Roger Sykes (OAM): For service to the community through a range of organisations.
