Locals caught in police patrols

Police have netted a number of offenders across the CBD after STOP PROP CHECK’s over Friday and Saturday.

Six people were netted on offences ranging from assault to drug possession, as well as for vehicle offences.

A further 13 were caught speeding and four driving distracted.

Two people were caught on Friday.

“A 28-year-old man from Grovedale was intercepted in Moorabool Street and found to be in possession of illicit substances,” police said in a statement.

“He was released pending further enquiries, in relation to the product seized.  

A 22-year-old man from Breakwater wanted in relation to serious assault, was arrested walking in Myers Street and charged with recklessly cause serious injury and unlawful assault – he was successfully remanded at the Geelong Magistrates Court.”

Police added that more patrols will continue.
