More than 13-hundred machetes have been surrendered during the first two weeks of a weapons amnesty.
That’s on top of the more than three-thousand weapons handed over by major retailers.
Geelong and Lara police stations are among the 45 designated drop off points across the state.
Police minister Anthony Carbines said it was a strong sign so far.
“Knife crime has devastating consequences,” he said.
“That’s why we’re drying up the supply of these dangerous weapons with our nation-leading ban and expanded stop-and-search powers to get them off the streets for good.
“There are 10 weeks left of the amnesty, if you still have machetes drop them off at a bin to avoid harsh penalties, including jail time.”
