A car stolen from Barwon Heads has been detected speeding through Melbourne.
Police allege the Hilux was detected doing speeds of up to 160km/hr in Melbourne’s east in the early hours of Tuesday, before the vehicle headed to Melbourne’s west.
Stop sticks were used near Broadmeadows Police Station, with the driver seen running off, jumping fences and trying to hide in a backyard.
A 37-year-old was arrested without incident after hearing a police dog.
Officers say the Hilux was stolen from the Bellarine town on June 21.
