A 20-year-old man has now been charged over an alleged home invasion in Grovedale, where a woman was found with serious injuries in the early hours of New Years Day.
The man allegedly entered the home along Torquay Rd and assaulted a 35-year-old woman.
The victim managed to escape and was located on the nature strip about 3.15am and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
It’s alleged the man also stole the woman’s car and fled the scene, before reportedly crashing into garage doors on Dunwinnie Court in Hamlyn Heights a short time later.
The man of no fixed address was arrested at the scene and is facing several charges, including aggravated burglary, assault causing injury and theft of motor vehicle.
He will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
