Man injured, car torched during home invasion

A man has been injured and a car set on fire during a home invasion in Werribee.

Six men forced their way into the Powlett Street property just before midnight, threatening the three residents with weapons.

One man was injured during an assault but did not need to go to hospital.

Police have been told the offenders then set a car parked outside a light, before driving off.

There were concerns the fire was threatening the home, but crews managed to bring the flames quickly under control.

The house was not damaged.

Police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the overnight incident.
