Men arrested over affray

Police have arrested two men following a brawl in North Geelong on Saturday night.

They were called to reports of an affray outside North Geelong Football Netball Club around 7pm Saturday.

It is understood the men refused to leave after being refused alcohol.

It is alleged a 63-year-old Lara man physically assaulted a 42-year old woman during the incident.

She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A second Lara man, aged 36, tried to run off before allegedly biting a police officer during his arrest.

He is expected to be charged on summon with offences including assault, assault police and affray.

The 63-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault of a female, unlawful assault, assault in company, resist police and affray.

He has been bailed to face court in June.

The North Geelong Football club says the men are not part of the club or associated with it.

It says it will not tolerate that behaviour and it is focussed on being family oriented.

The incident happened before the Magpies held a club function for the season opener.
