More people are moving to Geelong and the Surf Coast, as they escape capital city living.
The latest Regional Movers Index shows a 27 per cent jump in the number of people moving to regional Australia.
The report found eight per cent of people moving to Geelong were from capital cities, with another 2.1 per cent from other regional centres.
The Surf Coast is also one of the fastest growing areas.
Paul Fowler from the Commonwealth Bank said the trend built on a pattern being seen over the last decade.
“The onset of COVID, we saw a significant spike, in terms of many Australians looking to reassess where they chose to live,” he said.
“I think what’s really pleasing is with the COVID era well behind us now, a continued and sustained trend of more Australians calling the regions home.”
