As the weather warms up, a local council is treating mosquito infestations.
Surf Coast Shire says hotspots such as Anglesea are a focus for ground-based treatments with environmentally friendly larvicides.
The council’s monitoring program also includes night-light trapping.. with insects set for testing to identify mosquito types and any diseases they may carry.

But residents are also being encouraged to identify and stop any potential breeding sites around their homes.
That includes removing stagnant water in areas including ponds, gutters and pot plants.
