A man has been charged with murder after the death of a baby boy in Werribee last month.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad have been investigating since the incident on January 19, where a baby was found unresponsive at a property at about 4am.
The boy reportedly had ‘assault-related injuries’ according to police and was taken to hospital, where sadly he later died.
The death was deemed to be suspicious following the results of a post mortem, with detectives launching an investigation.
That led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Hillside man on Thursday, who was charged with murder and child homicide.
Police said the man was not the biological father of the infant but the parties involved were known to each other.
He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates court and was remanded.
