Murderer had access to documents from inside prison

There are reports a murderer in Barwon Prison was to able access documents with redacted names of victims and witnesses sent to him.

The Herald Sun reports in a major security breach, the inmate has been able to access the hidden names and details of more than 186 victims, witnesses and police.

The reports suggest the prisoner at the Lara facility was sent legal documents in an electronic format, relating to further serious charges he is facing.

It’s understood the man has been able to remove the redactions from inside the maximum security prison.

The man is believed to be jailed over a homicide which dates back to the 1980’s.

The paper reports a taskforce has since been set up to help deal with the issue, including contacting affected parties.
