Rebecca Bartel has been appointed the first female chair of the committee for Geelong.
The Deakin University executive director of strategic partnerships taking on the role from Clive Pugh following his resignation.
Brett Winter is the new deputy.
CEO Michael Johnston said it was a great result for the region.
“Rebecca and Brett are exceptional leaders with a deep understanding of Geelong’s opportunities and challenges,” he said.
“Their combined expertise will strengthen our advocacy and impact across the region.
“I look forward to continuing to lead the organisation under this new board leadership and am excited to have such high calibre individuals supporting me in my role.”
Bartel said she was excited to take up the role.
“Geelong’s future relies on good growth that is inclusive, sustainable and improves quality of life,” she said.
“By working together and maintaining a long-term focus, we can design Geelong’s best future and ensure our city grows well, not just fast.”
