A section of land in Norlane is being proposed to be sold.

City of Greater Geelong is looking at selling roughly 5000 square metres of 43 the boulevard to the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative, who would in-corporate the land into their planned redevelopment.

The redevelopment will see the co-operative centralise its services, requiring additional land to achieve its goals.

Councillor Sarah Hathway said the proposal was just for the 500 square metres.

“The public open space includes a shared pathway and if the land is sold, that pathway would remain on City owned land within the road reserve,” she said.

“Any contract of sale would be subject to the land being rezoned.”

Community consultation has opened by the council’s website.

Mayor Trent Sullivan says feedback from the community will create a report for consideration by council.

“All feedback will be provided to the Council and community members will have the option to present their feedback to a Submissions Review Panel,” he said.

“Council will then receive a report to consider the community feedback and outcomes from the panel, and make a decision on whether to sell the land or not.”
