A pair of paddleboarders have got more than they asked for this Christmas, rescued on Port Phillip Bay after drifting from Portarlington to Wyndham.

The 51-year-old woman and 17-year old boy set off from a Portarlington caravan park jetty around 3pm on Thursday, with a family contacting Triple Zero (000) two hours later after the duo failed to return.

Air Wing officers spotted them floating and waving near Wyndham Harbour around 6.20pm, the pair then rescued by water police.
