Pair arrested after dangerous joyride

A man and a teenage girl have been arrested following an alleged police car ramming, near-miss and hit-run in Moolap on Thursday morning.

Police say they tried to pull over a red 4WD in Whittington following reports of erratic driving at around 9.30am, before the police car was rammed on Agena Street.

No one was injured in the ramming but the driver of the 4WD didn’t stop for police.

Shortly after a road worker was reportedly almost hit along Breakwater Road by the same 4WD near the intersection of Barwon Terrace.

It’s alleged the 4WD later drove along Barwon Terrace before colliding with a white sedan head-on and driving away at about 10.35am.

A 70-year-old woman who was the driver of the sedan was treated for minor injuries following the collision.

Police on the ground with assistance from the Air Wing, located the man and girl on Breakwater Road, near Gun dog Lane shortly after.

A 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old Whittington girl have been arrested and will be questioned by police.
