Two people hospitalised after freeway crash

Emergency services have responded a two-car collision in Avalon.

Police have been told a Haval and a Toyota Camry collided on the Princes Freeway near the intersection of Beach Road around 11.20am on Thursday.

CFA crews have helped extract one person trapped inside their vehicle, handing them into the car of Ambulance Victoria.

Paramedics remained on scene in the hours following to assess patients.

A man and woman in the Haval were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man behind the wheel of the Camry has ssisted police with their enquiries, as they investigate the circumstances of the crash.

All Geelong-bound lanes of the Freeway reopened around 4.30pm, after the closure of a single lane caused delays in excess of an hour.
