Geelong’s Eastern Beach is set for a another update to lifeguarding hours as the summer holidays roll in.
Being named a drowning blackspot by Life Saving Victoria, the local waterfront will increase lifeguarding protection at the pool and dive tower to 10:00am to 7:00pm every day from Monday 22 December until Saturday 28 February.
The additional funding from the Victorian government will ensure greater safety for locals.
New measures including more rescue equipment, additional signage and an emergency marker will aid lifeguards in keeping the community safe this busy season.
The peak period welcomes over 250,000 visitors each summer, the council encouraging everyone to stay vigilant around the water, swim between the flags and to not swim alone.
