Planning is underway for a new gym at Surfside Primary School in Ocean Grove.
Education Minister and Deputy Premier visited the school on Thursday, after his government announced an $11.65 investment for the project.
Construction is due to start in the middle of 2027, and be on track to open by 2029.
“We’ve always got more to do, but when you see a community that’s been waiting and waiting to get this new competition-sized gymnasium, you can see how happy they are,” Minister Carroll said.
“From the students to parents, school council.”
Minister Carroll also visited Oberon High School to talk about the Be Bold, Be Heard program, encouraging young women to speak up and back themselves.
The program was started at North Geelong Secondary College in 2018, and is now across 23 schools in Victoria.
