Point Cook woman dies following alleged home invasion

Two people have been interviewed by police after a woman – alleged to have broken into their home – died in hospital.

It’s alleged the 20-year-old Point Cook woman broke into the home on Tuesday morning, demanding items at knife point before she was restrained by the two occupants.

Police arrived to find the woman unconscious – she died in hospital on Wednesday night.

“Emergency services were called to a property on Berkeley Street after it was alleged a woman, armed with a knife, gained entry to an apartment on Tuesday, 23 September just before 2am,” police said in a statement.

“The woman allegedly made demands for items before a male and female resident restrained her and called police.

“Officers arrived and located the woman unconscious before performing CPR.

“The woman was transported to hospital in a critical condition, she later died in hospital on Wednesday evening.

“Both residents of the apartment, a 28-year-old Melbourne man and 24-year-old Melbourne woman, have been interviewed by police and released pending further enquiries.

“Detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged burglary and the woman’s death, with oversight from the homicide squad.”
