Police arrest alleged parcel bandit

A man wanted over over five break-ins at local post offices over the space of two months, has been arrested during police raids in Wyndham.

He was one of seven people taken into custody after detectives from Wyndham CIU executed warrants at four properties across Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.

Police allege the 30-year-old broke into the Werribee and Point Cook post offices in September and October, stealing parcels that were then sold online to overseas buyers.

He is facing five counts of burglary and possessing a drug of dependence, and was remanded to face court on December 7.

Four other people wanted on outstanding warrants for offences incuding burglary were also remanded in custody.

A fifth will be charged on summons with five counts of burglary and possessing a drug of dependence, while another received a caution for cannabis possession
