The early indication from police following an alleged assault in Torquay on the weekend is that it was not politically motivated.

Police have named the person accused of attacking a man at his home on Sunday.

It’s alleged that a 37-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy attended the man’s home when he confronted the duo, leading to the man being attacked.

The 37-year-old has been charged with assault and is set to face court next week, while the 14-year-old was cautioned.

However police have now clarified that despite One Nation campaign material at the man’s home, the attack is not being treated as political.

The 37-year-old is also believed to have been involved in other incidents in Armstrong Creek where he drove erratically and damaged several trees on Main Street.

It’s also reported police intercepted him in earlier in the day where he allegedly returned a positive breath test and had his car impounded, with the man also allegedly smashing multiple windows in the vehicle.
