Police are investigating after one of their unmarked vehicles was rammed in Newcomb.
Officers tried to intercept a white Corolla with false number plates on the Bellarine Highway in the early hours of March 31.
It is understood the driver reversed and then crashed into the police car up to four times before driving off on Coppards Road.
Three men were in the vehicle at the time.
Police believe a petrol drive off in Rockbank, near Melton, on April 1 may be linked to the ramming.
They have released an image of a man they believe can help with their investigation.
Anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage or information on the incident is being urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
