Geelong Police have cracked down on a convenience store in Highton, after concerned parents reported the business was selling illegal tobacco to school students.
Local officers executed a search warrant at a tobacco and convenience store on North Valley Road around 2pm on Wednesday, locating a large stash of illegal cigarettes and cash.
A 58-year-old Grovedale woman has been interviewed in relation to the sale of illegal tobacco and possession of the proceeds of crime.
She will face the Geelong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Police said it was the sixth such warrant executed in as many weeks across the Geelong region, seeking to reassure locals they take this activity serious and are working to hold offenders accountable.
Local officers have called disrupting the sale of illegal products to young people and disengaged youth a priority.
They’ve asked anyone with information on illegal tobacco sales to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
