PSOs will have a dedicated presence across the suburban and regional rail network including the key regional hub of Geelong.

State NYE Commander, Acting Commander Belinda Jones says while crowd behaviour was generally pretty good, community safety was a priority at this time of the year.

“A significant level of planning has been underway to ensure we are well resourced to maintain community safety for the many events right across the state.

“We know this strong police presence will provide particular reassurance given the events in recent weeks. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the festivities, but ensure you do so safely – look out for your mates and have a plan to get to and from your event.”
