Thousands of swimmers will be taking to the water this weekend for the annual Lorne Pier to Pub swim.
Organisers say the event is still going ahead on Saturday, despite a shark sighting near Lorne beach during the week.
They say this year is shaping up to be their most competitive yet, with bookings sold out for several weeks.
However the Mountain to Surf Run will not be held today, due to the fire conditions and the closure of the Great Otway National Park.
Instead, participants will be switched to a virtual run, to be held over the next two weeks.
Runners are also being urged not to try the course through the national park while the closure is in place.
