Protesters will converge on Geelong’s waterfront this morning over the Israel-Palestine conflict.
They are calling for Deakin University to cut their weapons ties with Israel.
Nez from Free Palestine Geelong said the local unit holds research and development for weapons makers who supply parts to the Israeli military.
“(Weapons) go into the F15 fighter jets,” she said.
“Some of them are parts for drones.
“We’ve seen what they can do, especially with the World Central Kitchen aid workers.
“We believe that these are weapons of mass destruction, and we really think the sweat and hard work of Geelong manufacturing workers can be better used elsewhere.”
The protest gets underway from 8.30.
It is one of several protests that will be held across Victoria and the country.
