Extra V-Line services are being scheduled for Grand Final day as thousands of Cats fans head to Melbourne for the big game.
The exact number of trains is yet to be confirmed by V-Line, but the increase will make the journey easier for Cats fans heading to the G.
“For Friday’s Grand Final Parade, additional services will depart Waurn Ponds at 7.47am and 8.05am,” a V/Line told Geelong Broadcasters.
“After the parade, additional services will depart Southern Cross at 2.42pm and 3.02pm.
“On Grand Final Day, an additional service will depart South Geelong Station at 8.37am, and additional services will depart Waurn Ponds at 9.51am and 10.31am.
“After the game additional services will depart Southern Cross at 6.00pm, 6.20pm and 9.30pm – these extra services are in addition to trains running approximately every 20 minutes on the Geelong Line throughout the day seven days a week.”
And the trip will also be made easier in the city itself.
The free tram zone in the city is also being extended to the MCG to make it easier for supporters to get to the MCG.
“Passengers can travel between Southern Cross Station and the MCG on a Metro Trains service to either Jolimont or Richmond stations.
“Passengers should plan ahead by visiting the footy page on the V/Line website for a full list of service times and travel information.
“Fans are encouraged to arrive early to make the most of pre-match activities in the city.”
