Hundreds of walkers and joggers will flock to Geelong’s Eastern Beach this weekend for Dementia Australia’s Memory Walk and Jog.

“We’ve raised over $110,000 so far, and our target is over $125,000,” he said.

“Absolutely been inspired by the Geelong community to go above and beyond this year.”

The walk will set off at Eastern Beach Reserve on Sunday morning.

More than 420,000 Australians of all ages live with dementia, but that number is expected to increase to 812,000 by 2054 if there is no medical breakthrough.

Dementia is the second leading cause of death in the country, and the leading cause of death for women.
