A push is continuing for Geelong to establish a Regional Football Hub for the round ball game.
Football Victoria has held an extensive review of infrastructure in the region, identifying a critical need for a dedicated facility for the city.
It found Sutcliffe Reserve in Corio, provided the ideal foundation for a world-class facility that would support the rapidly growing football community, while also unlocking new participation opportunities.
The proposal would feature five pitches with two seated stands, two pavilions and changeroom facilities.
Football Victoria Geelong Chair Mike McInstry said the plan had the support of several Geelong councillors and local MPs.
He said they would continue to push for support.
“If we can get some contribution to get it started, because I think it will take some years to layer in the levels of investment that’s required to have a first class facility,” he said.
“But if we can get a start underway I think the rest will follow in time.”
