Teen seriously injured in Geelong CBD stabbing

A teenager has suffered serious injuries following a stabbing in Geelong’s CBD.

Officers were called to Market Square just afetr 3:30pm on Thursday to reports of two boys fighting in the shopping centre.

A 17-year-old boy was found by police nearby with suspected stab wounds, taken to hospital with upper body injuries, suspected to be stab wounds.

A group of teenage bystanders, believed to be known to the pair, watched on.

It’s believed the other person involved and several onlookers fled the scene, last seen headed towards Yarra Street.

A crime scene was established in the mall, with police shutting down a section of Little Malop Street.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives will investigate the circumstances, asking for witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the incident to please come forward.
