The Surf Coast Classic road race is set to see some busy roads closed throughout Thursday, as events for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race ramp up.

Thursday’s men’s road race includes and inland route between Lorne and Torquay, with several roads around the area to be closed for some periods of the day.

Deans Mash-Lorne Road will be closed to all traffic in stages – towards Lorne between 10.30am and 11.45am, and towards Deans Marsh between 10.45am and 11.15am.

Sections of Bell Street and The Esplanade in Torquay will be closed between 6am and 6.30pm.

Due to road closures on those Torquay roads, buses on routes 50 and 51 will divert via the Great Ocean Road and Anderson Street, missing some stops between 2pm and 3pm.

Roads impacted by rolling closures along the course route include Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road, Birregurra-Forrest Road, Colac-Forrest Road, Colac-Lorne Road, Deepdene Road, Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Road, Cape Otway Road, Grays Road, Vickerys Road and Bells Beach Road.

A full list of impacted roads and approximate closure times is available on the event website at cadelevansgreatoceanroadrace.com.au.
