Little more than seven weeks remain for registrations for the Geelong.
The event, which is set to take place in September, will see Geelong’s first marathon, as well as a half marathon, as well as several other race categories will be held across the weekend.
Geelong Olympian Lee Troop, who is organising the event, says there is still an opportunity to get involved in the event.
“We’re currently sitting at around 16 hundred in the marathon,” he said.
“And we are at around the same level in terms of the half marathon, but we expect to see another thousand put their names down before the event itself.
“It’s going to be a fantastic field for the race with some incredible quality runners.”
Troop said after having interest in launching the event for some time, it was exciting to see the event finally take place.
“Whether it’s the marathon, the half marathon or the community races, everyone gets their moment,” he said.
“Everyone runs through the city, everyone runs through the stadium, everyone gets to see the best of what Geelong has to offer.”
