Schools, kinders and tips close due to extreme fire danger

A number of schools and kinders on the Surf Coast will be closed today, due to the extreme fire danger rating.

Anglesea and Aireys Inlet Primary school students will be transferred to schools in Torquay today.

Kinders at Lorne, Jan Juc and Anglesea will also be closed to students, but facilities at Torquay and Winchelsea will remain open.

Surf Coast Shire says bins will collected until 10 this morning.

The Anglesea tip will also be closed from 10am, while the Winchelsea transfer station will not be open.

The Lorne and Anglesea Visitor Information Centres will be closed.

The council is encouraging residents on the coast toensure they have their fire plans in place, and leave bushfire risk areas early in the day.

Locals and visitors are also being advised not to head to high risk areas such as the Otway National Park.
