Several officers injured during dramatic Grovedale arrest

A man and woman have been arrested and several police officers have been injured following the alleged theft of two vehicles in Armstrong Creek on Monday morning.

Police were called to reports a grey Ford Ranger with a trailer attached was stolen from a property on Barwarre Road around 9.20am.

Responding officers say they spotted the ute driving alongside a stolen black Subaru Liberty on the Surf Coast Highway a short time later.

Officers tried to intercept the Ranger on Peter St in Grovedale before they say the Subaru drove straight at police, striking an officer leaving them with a minor injury.

A Norlane woman in the Subaru and an Ararat man in the ute were arrested, allegedly assaulting two police officers during the arrest.

Both officers were left with minor injuries and taken to hospital, while the two alleged offenders will be interviewed

Police say they also found a significant amount of allegedly stolen property inside the Subaru.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
