Severe weather warnings hit Geelong and the Surf Coast

Wild weather has been forecast for Greater Geelong.

The Bureau of Meteorology has announced a severe weather warning for much of the state across Monday with damaging winds expected.

The Central Victoria district, which encompasses Geelong and Melbourne, has been told to brace for strong winds in the afternoon, with gusts of up to 90km/h on the cards.

These conditions are expected to ease by early Tuesday morning.

The Bureau has also launched a second severe weather across our region, with abnormally high tides set to hit the Surf Coast and Bellarine.

These conditions expected to impact the local coast from Monday afternoon, with highest tides forecast for Tuesday.

They warn there’s a chance of sea water flooding of low level areas.

SES and Life Saving Victoria have advised people not to drive through floodwaters, and to stay away from beaches.
