A popular section of the Barwon River walking trail has been closed after a sewage leak identified on Thursday.
Barwon Water said crews are on site at the Macintyre Bridge in Newtown trying to fix the leak which is flowing on the Fernliegh St side of the trail.
“Multiple crews are on site working to identify the blockage and contain the spill, which is flowing downhill over a part of the walking trail,” a Barwon Water spokesperson said.

“The trail is closed in both directions adjacent the Fernleigh St entry, near the McIntyre Bridge.
“The community is asked to avoid the area, until otherwise advised.”
