Geelong’s state schools are set to be plunged into chaos today as teachers go on strike.
Parents have been have been urged to make other, though many schools will remain open for students to be supervised.
State premier Jacinta Allan said she hopes to see a deal reached soon after the latest pay deal was rejected on Tuesday.
“We will continue to negotiate,” she said.
“And we want the union to continue to remain at the negotiating table.”
Justin Mullaly from the Teachers Union says it’s disappointing that it has got to a second strike in a year.
“There is no doubt this has taken too long.”
Meanwhile the state’s Catholic teachers are now seeking permission to take their own industrial action.
Catholic teachers also set to be involved in several solidarity measures for their public colleagues.
